Doctor Strange features the Marvel character with the same name is directed by Scott Derrikson and casts Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role. The movie revolves around Dr Stephen Strange who is an acclaimed neurosurgeon and develops a severe nerve disease in both his hands due to an almost fatal accident and when no medicine can cure his problem, he goes to Kathmandu to seek help from the Ancient One to get back to practicing medicine.

It is the fourteenth film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and probably the most exciting one. That being said, Doctor Strange has elements of both fiction and underlying originality. There are instances in the movie where Doctor feels pain just like any other human. The movie is not too hard to believe. Cumberbatch seems to perfectly fit in the role of Strange. There’s one scene where he embraces the Cloak of Levitation, or the cape, one is easily reminded of Sherlock Holmes played by the same actor. Tilda Swinton who plays the Ancient One has done an incredible job as well.  Rachel McAdams, who plays Doctor’s colleague, develops as his love interest in the back-story.

The serious dialogues and jokes are equally balanced in the film. Cumberbatch’s witty comebacks are well balanced with all the serious dimension scenes. When Doctor Strange first reaches the secret house of Kamar Taj and is introduced to the Ancient One , who further introduces the astral plane and other dimensions such as the mirror dimension and time, one’s mind is easily blown with the amazing special effects that are not just visually impressive but also narrative.

If you are a fan of the Marvel movie, you must watch this movie. If you do not watch Marvel movies, this should be the first movie you must watch. Also, do wait for the mid-credits and the post credit scenes like all other Marvel movies!
